Router* Trouble Checklist

  • Verify you have a router (search model number on internet)
  • Reboot all (modem, router, switch, PC); check PC retains internet service
  • Check router has DHCP enabled to assign IPs
  • Only 1 device should have DHCP enabled to avoid IP conflict
  • Check router allows enough IPs for all location devices
  • Check lease length to retain an IP is not too short
  • Check if MAC filter is enabled; use static ip info to get gateway MAC address
  • Check router port with another device to ensure good
  • Add a switch if the router is out of LAN ports
